A. BANTAM LEAGUES (Grade 4)
- Playing Rules
- Man-to-man defense is mandatory
- Games will consist of 4 – 8 minute periods with the clock
stopping as close to 4 minutes as possible for substitution.
- The foul-line will be set at thirteen (13) feet.
- The baskets will be set at nine (9) feet.
- There will be four (4) 30 second time outs per game
- No backcourt or 10 second violations.
- No double team defense above the top of the key
- There is no pressing over half court allowed.
- In the last 2 minutes of the game, the losing team may cross half court to pressure the ball after the in bounds pass has been made. The in bounds pass cannot be contested by the defense in the backcourt.
- Playing Time Rule
- All players must play an equal amount (within a period of all other players).
- At the beginning of the 4th quarter the scorer will notify a coach if there is any
player in danger of not fulfilling the minimum playing time requirement. That
player must play the remainder of the game
- All eligible players present at the game must play in the 4th quarter
- When replacing an injured player the coach must select a player of near equal
ability to the player that is being replaced.
- Players who arrive late must and can only play one-half the time remaining in the
game.
- Player Conduct Rules –
- Players are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times
- any player involved in a physical confrontation will be immediately ejected from the game and will be suspended for the team’s next game
- any player committing a flagrant intentional foul will be immediately ejected from the game
- High School rules apply in regards to technical fouls.
- All players and parents must sign the NYBA Code of Conduct
